Nepali Movie Jhola Behind the Scene with Garima Panta

Jhola is a Nepali movie based on the story written by Krishna Dharawasi. It is about the Sati practice that was widespread across Nepali society, which was until the 1920s in which a wife had to immolate herself upon her husband's death, typically on his funeral pyre. (This practice was popular in India as well, but this story only focus on Nepali society.)

Jhola was declear super-hit across Nepal, and it won many awards. Actress Garima Panta won Best Actress award at SAARC Film Festival held in Sri Lanka, 2014 for her role in this movie. This film was selected as the Nepali entry for the Best Foreign Language Film at the 87th Academy Awards, but was not nominated. It is still yet to release in some countries where Nepali communities are.
